The song I have chosen for my music video is Moaning Lisa Smile by Wolf Alice. It is Alt-rock with some grunge elements.

The lyrics of the song seem to relate to possibly someone being fed up with life even though things are going well. The band have stated that the meaning behind the song is an intertextual reference to the cartoon character Lisa Simpson, from the TV show The Simpsons and is based on the episode "Moaning Lisa". The messages in this band are typical of the Alt-Rock genre, such as talking about how bad things are in life and being unable to escape them, however this song contains a positive message towards the end basically stating to not give up.
I have collected some ideas on Pinterest for visuals in both the video and the Digipak, looking for photoshop tutorials and images which can inspire some ideas. I like the gel lighting effects which I am considering using in the video and the 3D effect pictures to use in the Digipak.
Through this I have also found ideas for making the record label logo and some genre conventions for the band pictures, such as the image of the four people stood against a wall looking down or the image of the lead singer of Wolf Alice covered in glitter, her hair distorting her face.

Deap Vally is an Alt-Rock band, consisting of two members, they take visual style inspiration from 1970s rock, which can been seen commonly in Alt-rock of modern times. I have used this video as inspiration for my music video because of the two-piece band i have to work with and how they are set out on screen; in "Baby I call Hell" the band members are shot from the side, playing their instruments, which fills out the screen and creates a balanced composition. As well as the side shots there are close ups of the band members separately, the lead singer is shown in slow motion at one point when the pace of the song slows down. I could do something similar with my performers. There is also the glittering geometric shapes used on the background to make the video appear vibrant and interesting, this is something I could attempt with the green screen in the studio.
I used the treatment sheet to decide on the basic narrative and shot types of the video, this helped me to be able to visualise the video, however the description in the treatment sheet is a basic outline, in the Storyboard I can go through each specific shot.

This is the logo design for the record company I have made up for this project. I found the name "dream ground records" through a record label generator where you used initials of names and birthdates to work out a record label name, I worked with the two band members to decide on the name that we liked and found appropriate.
The design of the logo is based on some logos I found on Pinterest, I wanted a simplistic look, as is common with alt-rock genres, so i used the plain black background and white lettering, inspired by the "verve" record label design. I chose this particular font because although it still had a simplistic design to it there was also a quirkiness to it, which I thought would fit the design well.

Through Pinterest I found some Alt-rock album covers which I thought would be inspiraional for the album cover design, I also found some artworks, such as the distorted mouth and the planets, that could provide ideas for the design.
I asked the band members which designs they liked the best, they agreed with me on using a distorted or "glitched" look but with flowers as seen on the "New Order" and "Blackbird Blackbird" albums.
It is noticeable that alt-rock album covers are either very simplistic and have limited colours or they feature very bright colours, also flowers seem to appear often on alt-rock album designs, so this could be something to consider when making my album cover.

When making the risk assessment I looked over every possible aspect that could go wrong, even listing ideas for the video that may not be used in the final cut, just to make sure every factor was covered.

To decide on the filming times I worked with the actors, meeting with them to work out when we all were available to work on the music video and Digipak. Due to the introduction of a stand-in actress saturdays have become available to film on.
