The first thing I have done is take some images for the band's YouTube channel, I created this channel and the content seen on it, to give the band a sense of authenticity, I also thought it would be useful to use YouTube as a creative platform to document the production of the music video.

I have had to photograph the band members separately due to time schedules, therefore I have had to recreate the same lighting in each image in order to blend the two separate shoots into one image.

The genre of the band is Alt-rock therefore the look is very casual, it can be moody but also somewhat playful and genuine, explaining the different poses used by the models. Through the different poses I have tried to create personalities for each band member, with Sam we thought a more quirky and less serious character would be good, whereas with Nicole her character of the lead singer appeared more confident and serious, posing more seriously.

The layout of these images of the separate band members could be used on the inside of the Digipak, generating star recognition as a fans of the band would appreciate the seeing their favourite band member having a whole page to theirselves.

I followed this tutorial on how to create a gold effect font in Photoshop for the band logo. I have first used this on the band's Youtube channel banner, I want to use this font style for all band related products to create a familiar visual style within the band.

The use of black and gold is inpsired by Wolf Alice's "My Love Is Cool" album cover (seen below), it features a symplistic design but has the brighter colours through the use of the gold. After producing the advert I prefered the new font as I thought it fit the genre more, so I remade the youtube banner using that font and added the album date, as is commonly seen on band's youtube channels. I changed the gold foil effect to the same colours that are used on the advert to create brand recognition.

I started the construction of my video, out of multiple takes I didnt have much to work with to begin but I have got the first shot and worked out how to use final cut to edit the colour of the video, which I put in black and white as it fits the alt-rock and grunge genre, most of The 1975's music videos are in black and white and it is commonly seen as a trait of their band.

I also used a lighting effect called "highlights" this made an interesting light movement over the video and helped mask the fold in the background.

After thinking more about the narrative and the pace I wanted to achieve in the video, I went over the footage I had so far and put in places where the narrative footage could go, breaking up the studio shots so the pace of the video is not slowed down.

I also worked on titles, finding a text preset which would work for my video, although I may change it I have used a lens flare text animation as the flare blends with the lighting in the video, the movement of the text also seems to fit with the music's tempo.

This is an example of the footage I have so far, missing the narrative parts and soundtrack but features the edits I have used.

My next step is to film the narrative parts of the video out side of the studio and finish the studio footage.
